About Us - Services

Accommodation and Support comes in many forms

Some of our residents at Conway House

The majority of our accommodation is provided via our hostels located across London. Every hostel resident has a dedicated key worker who works closely with them throughout their stay. The resident and key worker will produce and then follow a support plan which aims to cover all aspects of the resident’s needs, wants and aspirations. The support plan provides a series of realistic achievable goals to help the resident towards independence. Keyworkers also provide general assistance with benefit claims, advice on hostel living, location of local amenities and any other needs relevant to the resident’s life.

A percentage of our residents have issues with substance misuse. We provide a ‘second stage’ specialist supported housing scheme where those who have finished a detoxification or rehabilitation programme can live in a safe, supportive environment. We also have specialist staff helping our primary hostel residents to tackle their substance misuse issues.

Specialist services within the hostels include a regular ‘Bone Dry’ club giving residents an opportunity to have at least one evening of activities and engagement in a ‘dry’ environment.

Keyworking includes a life skills offering a wide range of educational and social activities for the hostel residents. Working in partnership with local businesses and colleges to bring educational, cultural and recreational activities. A few examples of classes include; photography, ESOL, drama therapy, gardening projects, yoga, five a side football, weight training and increasingly, cultural outings and trips. The staff team run weekly ‘coffee mornings’ at each hostel, allowing residents and staff to engage within an informal setting whilst providing a good forum for the exchange of information and advice.

Move-on from hostels to independent living is seen as a major priority for our residents. Keyworkers work closely with residents, assisting and preparing them for independent living via a ‘pre-tenancy’ training programme to ensure that the resident is capable of coping with the responsibilities of independent living. When they have completed this the Keyworker will then work to source move-on accommodation from a wide variety of potential move-on places including other housing associations, local authority accommodation and the private sector.
When a resident moves on to independent living the Keyworker will continue to offer support for a period of up to six months.
